Mrs. Shagufta Akbar Shaikh is the Headmistress of Vishal Maharashtra Education Society's Urdu Primary School, Pune, and has been serving the institution since its establishment in 1992, with over 34 years of dedicated experience. Holding M.A., D.Ed., B.Ed., and Ph.D. qualifications, she has been instrumental in uplifting underprivileged and minority students in a slum area through quality education and strong leadership.
She regularly conducts teacher training programs focusing on academic updates, classroom management, lesson planning, discipline, and time management, along with workshops for parents on parenting skills, child psychology, and awareness of minority welfare schemes. She has guided several Urdu medium schools in Pune regarding official online processes and scholarship procedures, and has contributed to academic development through preparation of Marathi, EVS, and Urdu workbooks.
Alongside social initiatives such as distribution of free uniforms and participation in Swachh Bharat awareness drives, she has received several prestigious recognitions including the Adarsh Shikshak Award (1999), Adarsh Mukhyadhapika Award (2008), Loknete Yashwantrao Chavan Award (2012), Bharati Vidyapeeth Appreciation (2019), and the Ideal Headmistress Award (2025). Under her leadership, the school has consistently achieved success in state-level examinations, national art competitions, and national karate championships.
